A federal judge in St. Louis halted implementation of Title IX—a Biden administration rule that extends protections for LGBTQ+ students—adding to the number of U.S. courts that have issued similar orders, The Missouri Independent noted. The ruling by U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel, of the Eastern District of Missouri, came in a lawsuit filed in May by Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin and the attorneys general of Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. Sippel’s order enjoins the U.S. Department of Education, Education Secretary Miguel Cardona and others from “implementing, enacting, enforcing or taking action in any manner to enforce” the nondiscrimination rule promulgated by the department that was set to take influence on Aug. 1; the order halts implementation of the rule until closing resolution of the lawsuit. “Congress enacted Title IX to protect and promote educational opportunities for women and girls,” Griffin said, focusing on an anti-trans slant.

For better or for worse, Trevor Chandler ’09 seeks out confrontation wherever he goes. In his Sidore Series lecture Thursday night, titled “Getting Along is Boring, Let’s Fight; Embrace Conflict and Live the Most Interesting Life”, Chandler highlights his main focuses as sex, religion, and politics: “all things you are not supposed to talk about at the dinner table.”
After graduating from Plymouth State University in the spring of 2009 with a major in Political Science, Chandler began his distinct approach toward up-to-date politics. First joining the fight for marriage equality in New Hampshire, Chandler traveled the state engaging in discourse over the importance of elevating Homosexual voices and sharing personal stories that broke from the norm. Chandler then later joined the American Israel Common Affairs Committee as their Progressive Outreach Director, advocating for a focus on securing relations with the controversial Middle Eastern country. Now, Chandler is using his experience in navigating hard-won issues to run for D9 supervisor in San Francisco, CA.

To read the headlines last Tuesday announcing the end of progressivism in San Francisco, you’d consider conservatives had scored a major victory across the urban area. The Chronicle trumpeted in “Dewey Defeats Truman”-sized type that “Progressivism is out—for now.” The Recent York Times asked, “Has San Francisco lost its liberal soul?” Even The Standard got in on the discourse, posing, “Is San Francisco still a liberal bastion?”
The evident answer: Of course it is.
In existence, fewer ballots were cast for Donald Trump in our city’s Republican central than for the 14th runner-up in the 17th District Democratic County Core Committee. (In proof, in a capital that famously has more dogs than children, there are far more children than registered Republicans.) So, who actually won on Tuesday, and who elected the victors? The answer to both questions is linear Democrats.
In the aforementioned DCCC race, the Democrats for Adjust slate (in San Francisco parlance, the moderates) virtually swept the even more left-leaning Labor and Working Families slate. Though final votes are still entity tallied, the Democrats for Change candidates look likely to take between 18
Bringing Commonsense Change to the Metropolis of San Francisco
The Democratic County Central Committee (the DCCC) is the governing body of our local Democratic party, whose mandate is to register voters, charter democratic clubs, fundraise, and endorse democrats and ballot measures in San Francisco.
The current DCCC has taken positions on candidates and policies that are out of sync with San Francisco voters, such as defunding common safety initiatives, and refusing to take a position on the 2022 school board recall.
The SF Democrats for Change slate aims to get San Francisco and the local Democratic Party back on the right route by championing issues that actually fix our city’s problems, including public safety, affordable housing, quality public schools, and a vibrant economy.
