Confessions of an Anon
On the partnership between digital anonymity and sexuality in the LGBTQ community.
I grew up white, male, queer, unhappy, closeted, anxious, affected by childhood sexual trauma, and with physical and emotional scars changing my face — subtle to some, obvious to myself and others. While growing up, I struggled with a sense of duality. I had an urge to be a shadow, hidden and silent, facing opposite the yearn for to be the brightest, most charming individual in any room. I was always going to live somewhere in between, oscillating from end to end, rarely stopping near the truest center. When I came out at the age of 20 and experienced the freedom of digital connection, I took it as an opportunity to highlight whatever side I wanted.
Growing up, I was always self-conscious of my physical appearance. I took every photo with my head turned slightly to the right, displaying the side I believed to represent the truest version of me. I even wore my hat backwards to attract a more masculine man. This carried over into my first online profiles for Gay.com and Plenty Of Fish, which are ideal examples of the internalized homophobia and insecurities that coe

Organizing a group sex event is like organizing any other group event. It requires greater planning for both the hosts and the participants.
When I'm involved in those scenes, I'm involved with an "event" - sometimes it's a pseudo porn fire that might be sold to several commercial entities, other times it's a party train, or a warehouse rave, or whatever. . . the more elaborate could be considered the sex and kink version of LARP, often without filming but having scripts to be followed (like theatre, not everybody is a star for every production... some people have to participate from behind the scenes). There's usually some fees deeply interested, legal/medical/security support on site, adhering as close to the laws as the situation allows (i.e. carding, consent, background checks, tests) -- so the participants may be anonymous to each other but own to submit applications to the organizers.
but you discover more people in Western Europe and Eastern Asia willing to go through that than in the U.S. (and most everywhere else, too!) -- th

Florence gay friendly in history
Since the Renaissance, Florence has been a city where the right to self-determination has always been guaranteed, especially in relational and sexual matters. If it is genuine, for example, that for some centuries certain discriminatory measures were enforced, it is equally genuine that the Medici court exalted Platonic love and the close relationship between master and disciple.
There were many historical figures who reveled in their passions, such as Marsilio Ficino, and the poet Giovanni Cavalcanti, or Giovanni Pico della Mirandola and Poliziano (before) and Girolamo Benivieni (after), together with whom he was entombed inside Santa Maria Novella.
One specific historical fact emphasizes this aspect of Florence above all others. On August 13, 1512 thirty young men belonging to the Florentine aristocracy, known as “i compagnacci”, burst into Palazzo Vecchio, demanding that the rules that provided for the exile and the decrease of all property for “sodomites” be abrogated. Their demand was granted just one month later.
