YouTube Star Shane Dawson Comes Out as Bisexual

YouTube star Shane Dawson has come out as bisexual.

In an emotional 15-minute video posted to his channel Tuesday, the 26-year-old Internet celebrity confessed that he had been confused about his sexuality his entire life, especially in the last year. "I never thought I would be making this—ever," Dawson said. "But I woke up this morning and I just had to."

"I'm making this video because I feel like it could help a lot of people. Over the last year, I have been extremely sexually confused. I mean, my whole animation. But this last year is when it really hit me. I always wished that I was gay, that I was just 100 percent gay—for so many reasons. No. 1, that means I would know who I was. No. 2, it would be a lot easier for me to be accepted by people because I wear wigs and dresses on the internet and I'm feminine and all these things. It'd be so much easier to be just like, 'Yeah, I'm gay.' But I'm not. I'm not really gay and I can't sit here and say that I am because that's not real and that's not genuine. But I also can't sit here and say tha

Unless you live under a Twitter rock, you know the big news that was sailing around the internet yesterday.  No, it's not Justin Bieber's buttocks (though really, at this point does this even qualify as remotely shocking for Bieber?), but instead Shane Dawson's public confession that he is bisexual person.  As a longtime fan of Shane's (whose love has admittedly ebbedand flowed through the years), I was genuinely shocked by this pronouncement.  Unlike recent such videos by the likes of Connor Franta, Troye Sivan, and Joey Graceffa, Dawson's persona has long been built off of his "I may look gay but I am straight" persona, and his show has consistently featured his partnership with fellow YouTuber Lisa Schwartz (whom he revealed in the video he has broken up with now).  As a result, this is a video where I was less looking for details about his personal life and what would be said in that regard, but more genuinely glued to new details (when you watch someone's personal videos for every day for three years linear, you are very interested in such revelations).  What shocked me even more is that the coming out video, which has change into almost as commonplace as

26-year-old YouTube star Shane Dawson just came out as double attraction in a video

YouTube star Shane Dawson came out as bisexual in an emotional video posted on his YouTube channel on Tuesday.

The 15-minute video has already been viewed over 1.6 million times, E! Online reports.

"I can't honestly say I'm same-sex attracted. I can't honestly say I'm straight," Dawson explains in the video. "But I can honestly say that I am open to love in any way and I guess that makes me bisexual."

Dawson has spent years struggling with his sexuality. Prior to sharing the video, he says he had only come out to one person, his therapist.

He says he often wished he was "100% gay," because organism gay is more widely accepted than being bisexual, according to Dawson.

In the video, Dawson explains despite having several long-term relationships with women, including one with fellow YouTuber Lisa Schwartz,  he always felt "sexually confused."

Shane Dawson woke up feeling scared yesterday.

He had something deeply personal to share with his more than 6.7 million followers on YouTube and he was determined that this was the day.

Dawson began by saying that he has always been ‘sexually confused’ but never more so than in the past year.

‘I always wished that I was gay, that I was just 100 percent gay,’ he admitted.

Why?

‘You know, number one, that would mean I knew who I was,’ he explained. ‘Number two, it would be a lot easier for me to be accepted by people. Because I wear wigs and dresses on the internet and I’m feminine and all these things. And it would be so much easier to just say, yeah, you know, I’m gay.’

But that just isn’t the case.

‘I’m not completely gay, and I can’t sit here and say that I am… but I also can’t sit here and speak that I’m straight…I’ve come to the conclusion, through therapy and through being honest with myself, I am bisexual.’

He also observed: ‘In a lot of coming out videos, people who are gay or lesbian, t
