Reneé Rapp Has ‘Had Enough’ of Fans Questioning Her Sexuality Online
Throughout her career, Reneé Rapp has made it a point to be as open about her sexuality as possible. But in a recent social media post, the “Not My Fault” singer told her fans that enough is enough.
After Rapp started referring to herself as a sapphic in multiple universal appearances over the last few months, discourse began among the singer’s fans, with some openly asking if the star still identified as bisexual. Rapp put an close to the speculation on Monday (March 25) in a post on X: “if I utter I’m a female homosexual I am a lesbian and if someone says they’re bi they are bi,” she wrote. “I’ve had enough of you witches.”
Over the last few years, Rapp has spoken about identifying as bisexual, even writing about her encounter as a bisexual person woman on the song “Pretty Girls” from her critically acclaimed debut album Snow Angel. When she came out as bisexual in 2020, Reneé received both praise and ridicule. Many fans noted her as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, while others questioned if she was queerbaiting. Despite it all, she's always openly and proudly mutual her love for women.
Fast-forward to January 2024, the "Tummy Hurts" singer made her Saturday Bedtime Live debut, where she served as the show's musical guest, and even made a guest appearance in a sketch called "Entertainment Tonight Lip-Readers." In the skit, Reneé was introduced as the "little queer woman intern." Coming out as a womxn loving womxn on SNL was a last-minute conclusion for her. In an interview with Them, she revealed the script originally said "little attracted to both genders intern," but she asked the writers to make the change, despite organism nervous about how viewers would react.
But that same apprehension Reneé had about people responding negatively to her female homosexual identity back in 2024 became a reality in 2025. However, the journey of coming out was a long one. Rapp sat down for a recent interview with Them, where she opened up about accepting her self as a lesbian. The “Tummy Hurts” singer referred to the viral Tumblr guide, Lesbian Masterdoc, as helping her back in December. “I’m sure for some people it doesn’t feel right,” she explained. “I don’t realize all the nuances to the conversation. Okay I know I only recently started doing Monday Pop Culture Fixes and I know that a disproportionate amount of them have been about Reneé Rapp but IN MY DEFENSE she stays being iconic.
This weekend, Reneé Rapp was the musical guest on SNL and with her she brought many joys. For one, she was introduced by the original Regina George, Rachel McAdams. When I tell you I screamed. Then, she brought out Megan Thee Stallion to perform their new anthem (from the Mean Girls soundtrack), “Not My Fault.”
She also was in a skit where she played a female homosexual intern who was doing the internship as part of her court-mandated media training, a nod to the comments that she’s been delightfully unhinged in her interviews.
Also Reneé Rapp identifies as a woman loving woman now! She was sort of soft launching this information over the course of the Mean Girls press tour in various interviews, but she explicitly talked about it on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM radio
