Diaries of a homosexual
They say every late hours in Europe tells a story, but this week on Diaries of a Homosexual, my nights told a full-blown saga one with fashion statements, criminal investigations, and kebab-line philosophers.
First, Maddie met a man in only a skirt who wasn’t just rewriting the rules of fashion but possibly her entire worldview. Meanwhile, my attempt to crack into Berghain didn’t just end in rejection, it ended with me solving a crime. Who knew the bouncers were gatekeeping the club and Berlin’s unsolved mysteries?
Then there was the educate incident: me running like I was auditioning for the Olympics, only to end up with bloody arms and linen pants that would make any dry cleaner weep. And because subtlety isn’t my forte, I thought disguising my lesbian buddy as a brief boy to sneak into a men’s club was a genius idea. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t.
The night peaked in a McDonald’s bathroom, where I was mid-vomit/makeout when a fight broke out. The kind of scene that makes you question if you’re the protagonist or just an innocent bystander in life’s absurd sitcom. Maddie’s insights on love and heartbreak came later, as we untangled the lessons buried in o
A bit late to the party, but I just finished reading Ross Gay’s 2019 essay collection, The Book of Delights. I’m inspired. Hence pilfering the concept with a twist: blind delights! Like him, I possess many things to delight in. Also like him, the contrary. He is black. I am blind. We each have a mountain of stereotypes and oppression… Read more

Once upon a time, I awoke to discover myself attracted to men. It actually wasn’t anything enjoy that, but that version of the story is a lot simpler than the real one, which is very complicated. Perhaps unusually, I’m not really able to pinpoint the exact moment I knew I was attracted to guys. It was very early on in my childhood, though, because I cannot remember a time when I didn’t know it.
As such, it is shielded to say that I grew up being a gay. I never had the sudden realization, the shock, the denial, or any of that. It was pretty distinct to me, and I was okay with it for the most part. I’m a lovely private person, so I never invited the attention that is associated with coming out. I dated girls who asked me out, sometimes, because I didn’t want to hurt their feelings, but not to attempt to obscure anything.
When I made the decision to elude coming out until I was in college, it was largely because I didn’t really crave any undeserved, extra attention. There would be people (idiots, mostly) who hailed me as some brave hero, and there would also be those (also idiots, but more mainstr

[ARTICLE] One thing I have learned as an entrepreneur and human being is that I was wired a certain way from birth. Many things I naturally perform well, and others I can achieve with investigation and practice. However, it is best to stride away from the tasks I won’t be qualified to complete effectively, and surround myself with people who can accomplish them efficiently, shoring up my weaknesses. Or in the case of an individual effort, like playing tennis, which I was just plain horrible at, I had to put that racket down.
Lessons from our Border Collies
I have always loved dogs, and rescuing dogs has been a passion and one of my causes. Certainly, I support animal rescue programs and always will. However, a few years ago, we decided we needed to bring Border Collies to our Double Heart Ranch in the Texas Hill Country. It was simply time to phone in the experts. We added Boer goats to our livestock mix, along with the Texas Longhorn cattle. Border Collies are absolutely the preferred herding dogs (in our opinion) so we sought to find the best. The first thing I learned about Border Collie commands is the phrase, “Leave
