10 The Sims
The Sims franchise and its DLC is not exactly a dating sim game, but it deserves to be mentioned. In the past, The Sims was one of the few games that allowed you to create characters of any gender identity or sexual orientation. You could intimacy any character in the game, regardless of gender or sexuality.
The Sims is a game that allows you to live your dreams without any anxiety of judgment. The communit

I am not judging you or your orientations. I think everyone should love whoever they love. As drawn-out as it is mutual, of course.
It is your game and you can do with it what you wish, but if you want to build a statement, then only including homosexual dating to your dating sim is not the way to do it, if you inquire me. The thing is: You experience excluded in the straight dating sims, so you build your own. But instead of including gays, you omit them even further.
Instead of saying: "Being gay is normal and we should all experience like we can play the alike games", your sim says: "Straights and gays do not mix. You possess your games, we have ours."
(I really hope you don't feel like I am judging you for being lgbtq+ or for making a gay game. That is absolutely not what I try to do.)
Props to the devs, the audience for buying, the support and open mindedness from everyone etc... Its good to spot this even if its not my cup of tea.
As an outsider I am curious to hear from this audience. What types/ kinds of LGBT games would you be interested playing specifically? More details are finer if possible
If I had to estimate I would say:
- Gender identity exploration simulators or action modeling experimentation without real world consequences
- Dad date sims but for women or those who do not name a specif gender male/ female
- LGBT relationships focused version of popular EA game "the sims"
- Education / Awareness oriented "message" or "experiential" games
- idk rly just guessing here
I appreciate any and all feedback!
Cheers

A choose-your-own path game: a gay dating sim
Obscura1
Hello folks. I’ve been a fan of Choice-of-Games but yep, I decided to go the Ren’Py direction to inflict–I mean–share, my esthetic talents with the world.
I ended up making a demo for a gay male dating sim.
If you’re interested, please check it out. I’ve used the various helpful articles from this site to help me map out routes to my game. The game will be available December 2013 and is called “Coming Out On Top.”
It’s another game being crowdfunded through Kickstarter. At the moment, it’s gotten a lot of support. Additional encourage is welcome of course, but if not, critiques from actual fans of the multiple-branching-storyline model would be excellent. I consider there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy the demo too if you like m/m romance/games/fiction.
While the game is story and nature based, it is an 18+ game due to some erotic content. Please check out the demo if you’re interested. (Link is on the Kickstarter site.)
And yes–the main criticism is not the writing so much as the fact all the guys look like models. I’m nervous that’s due the fact I just drew the guys that way before the game started
