Gay closeted actors
For many, June represents the month of pride; a second to celebrate, teach and communicate all that is homosexual, gay and fabulous. Although today creature gay isn’t much of a deal, back in the 50’s it was a dangerous label to have. Throughout history, thousands contain lost their lives because they were labeled as ‘gay’ or ‘queer’ and many lived out their true sexual preferences in secrecy. As it’s almost the end of Pride month, I wanted to include a look at some celebrities from the golden age of Hollywood who were gay, or at least thats what the rumours said. It’s tough to know if all these celebrities, and of course many more, were truly gay, but I wanted to share a rare stories just so see how far we’ve come. Cheerful pride everyone.

According to the actor’s biographer Mark Griffin, actors in Hollywood are “gay and closeted.” However, these stars will choose not to “come out.”
“They are gay and closeted but, as far as we’ve come post-Stonewall, they are not going to come out because it would adversely affect their careers.”

Coming out as an LGBTQ+ person can be a difficult thing to do and even when they're ready to share their true selves with the world, not everyone is ready to hear it. Many Diverse celebrities have even felt pressure to stay in the closet despite wanting to be open about their sexuality or gender. And while it seems like Hollywood is completely accepting of the Gay community, many of its members have been made to doubt if they should be out and proud.
These stars admit that everyone from agents to casting directors to other actors have all advised them to stay in the closet at one point or another. Whether it was to triumph a new role, earn the public's approval or just sell more tickets, these LGBTQ+ actors possess been told that it would be best for their careers if they hid that part of their lives. Thankfully, they didn't listen.
Despite the pressure of the entertainment industry, these stars are all now out of the closet and living existence to the fullest as who they were meant to be.
