Gay characters cartoon
LGBTQ+ representation in animated media gets more and more visible each day. Gay cartoon characters have appeared in Gravity Falls and The Legend of Korra, to identify a few. But in the matching way art imitates life, potentially closeted cartoon characters also face the scrutiny of being labeled "other" or "different" by the worlds they inhabit. The animated world proves to be just as difficult to navigate as the physical one, and secretly gay cartoon characters must traverse their own unsteady paths as skillfully. When you consider about it, though, the cartoon nature provides a fantastic place for potentially gay characters to be introduced, as the wonder and adventure of these worlds provide a vibrant, engaging canvas for children to acquire about important topics.
The possibly gay cartoon characters below may not even really be hiding it; they might hold just never confirmed it either. Some of the younger characters here likely might not even realize it yet. Not all are gay role models, but many complete offer viewers the chance to spot someone they spot with. And while speculating on a real person's sexuality is not something you should ever do, guessing about a fictional character may add new
Disney seemingly has a lot of same-sex attracted characters. But if someone asked me what I idea of Disney’s first openly gay traits, I’d only include one thing to say: which one? ZING!
Disney is very fond of giving themselves a pat on the support for including the LGBTQ+ community in scenes of its major blockbusters. It’s become something of a meme in online spaces, particularly among queer TV/Film fans, who much like myself are unable to resist poking the billionaire company and it’s abysmal care when it comes to telling queer stories.
There’s an argument to be made that in actual world queer fans shouldn’t care about Disney’s shit LGBTQ+ voice, and truly I understand it. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that no matter how much you point and shove people towards smaller ‘indie’ Diverse creators, it won’t stop them from wanting better from the billionaire firm they are ride-or-die for. It sucks, but that’s just how it is.
To further bully Disney in the hope of actually producing another show that actually has great queer advocacy (hello Strange World), I’ve compiled a li
Cartoon Characters Who Are Openly LGBTQ+
For a long day, LGBTQ+ representation in mainstream entertainment seemed like something of a fantasy. But things have gotten a whole lot more uncover in the last decade or so — even in the world of cartoons. Animation, in truth, has proven to be a great place to explore the panorama of sexuality and gender. And boy, do these animated series take full superiority of their medium. Anthropomorphic birds on BoJack Horseman, nigh-immortal aliens on Steven Universe, and candy-coated princesses on Adventure Time all fall under the Homosexual umbrella nowadays. This is not to say that Gay liberation is a fantasy – the struggle for equality is all too real. But animation is uniquely free of limits, and creators have used this openness to create safe havens of expression for all ages. Symbolism, magic, and fantasy are potent tools of representation in these cartoons, used to their fullest potential in these LGBTQ+ characters. From princesses to warriors, they're out and proud — and we're here to commemorate them.

I ran across this.
insider.comWe created the first-ever searchable database of 259 LGBTQ characters in...
TV shows such as ‘Steven Universe,’ ‘She-Ra and the Princesses of Power,’ and ‘Craig of the Creek’ are leading the way with the most LGBTQ characters in children's animation.
Supposedly an exhaustive list of “gay” cartoon characters. (I use “gay” as shorthand for LGBTQ+ because I loath acronyms.) Some of these characters are pretty minor and some of these cartoons I’ve seen and had no idea the character was gay. Still, it might be a pretty great guide. I was able to scroll through and see what shows were listed that my kids have watched and watch which characters and how major they are.
I would say, though, looking at our society - Going forward, probably anything made past 2020 is going to be highly suspect unless specifically Christian.
