Feathers gay bar nj

The LGBTQ bars in New Jersey are a vital part of keeping in-person connections alive for our community. As the most densely populated state in the union, the Garden State is a true melting pot. Our mention represents what it means to be American: no matter who you are or where you come from. We all deserve a chance to exist in harmony and find others with whom we can share solace. With so much diversity packed into such a small room, it’s no surprise that we include historically had one of the most thriving queer communities in the state.

Before apps like Grindr made their way into the world, the “gay” bar was the only place people found connection.

There were so many places back then that allowed the LGBTQ community to forge relationships with people who were like them and feel understood. These hangouts — that some now ring “third spaces” — show us that we’re not all that different and that there are others who comprehend what it mea

This could be last call for Club Feathers, New Jersey's oldest gay nightclub, owner says

RIVER EDGE — Club Feathers, the oldest queer nightclub in the state, is established for drag nights and go-go boys, but the coronavirus shutdown forced it to reinvent itself as an outdoor restaurant.

It's not enough. Now Feathers is on the brink of closure and pleading for aid from the community.

Binetti launched a GoFundMe campaign last Sunday with a goal of $75,000 to pay for four months of rent and taxes racked up while the club, which had its 42nd anniversary on June 21, has been closed. As of Wednesday afternoon, the fundraiser had received more than $10,000 in donations.

As my memory recalls the events, the details seem a bit foggy. I believe the Bell was closing on a Friday and opened at Feathers on a Sunday. The gays were being chased out of Hackensack and needed a place to nest-hence FEATHERS. Everyone always commented on the name "Feathers" and it always made perception to me. .. Birds of a feather flock together, and we are a unique group of people that have flocked together through the years.
Some people walked though the place unnoticed, and others embossed themselves into our memories forever.
I wasn't there at the beginning, I was still "finding myself", but from what I heard it seemed there was this shady manager, Andy or something prefer that. I will not be using real names on people I don't know, or feel wouldn't want their name used. This blog isn't really about people as much as it's about a place, a place many called home and you will re
